Disgaea 7 pkg, the strategy RPG series known for its absurd humor, insane level grinding, and over-the-top special attacks, has returned with its seventh numbered entry, Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless, on the PS4.
This latest installment throws players into the demon-filled realm of Hinomoto, a world inspired by Japanese folklore and samurai culture, delivering a chaotic and captivating experience that fans of the franchise have come to expect.
At the heart of Disgaea 7 lies the story of Fuji, a lazy ronin who despises virtue, and Pirilika, a naive and virtuous young woman. Their unlikely alliance forms the core of the narrative, as they embark on a quest to reclaim Hinomoto from the tyrannical reign of the Shogunate Ooedo. The game’s story, while predictably wacky, offers a surprisingly compelling narrative with engaging characters and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.
Gameplay remains true to the Disgaea formula, featuring grid-based tactical combat where players can manipulate units, execute powerful team attacks, and unleash devastating special moves. The series’ signature features, like lifting and throwing allies, are back, allowing for strategic positioning and creative combat scenarios. Disgaea 7 introduces new mechanics, including “Jumbification,” which allows characters to grow to an enormous size, dealing massive damage and altering the battlefield.
The character customization and progression system is as deep and complex as ever. Players can level up their characters to ridiculous degrees, learn a vast array of skills, and equip them with powerful weapons and armor. The sheer amount of content and customization options can be overwhelming, but it offers endless replayability for those who enjoy optimizing their party and pushing the limits of their characters’ abilities.
Visually, Disgaea 7 maintains the series’ vibrant and colorful anime-inspired aesthetic. Hinomoto is beautifully rendered, with diverse environments ranging from feudal villages to mystical forests. The character designs are charming and expressive, and the special attack animations are as flashy and over-the-top as ever.
However, the PS4 version of Disgaea 7 does show its limitations. While the visuals are generally appealing, some textures and character models appear slightly dated. Additionally, the game can experience occasional frame rate drops, particularly during intense combat sequences with numerous units on screen.
If you want to find a similar game, I remember about Disgaea 6 PS4, you can try.
